Standard Laboratory Equipment and Kits: Challenges and Solutions
Abstract
Diagnosis, prevention, treatment and management of diseases are directly or indirectly associated with laboratory equipment and kits. Supplying qualified and affordable laboratory kits and equipment is one of the main concerns of medical laboratories. In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) device department, as one of the subsidiary departments of national medical device directorate, is professionally involved in the regulation of importing high quality and affordable laboratory equipment and products in sufficient quantity in order to prevent shortage of devices. Supply management challenges of IVD devices and approaches of national medical device directorate in this regard will be discussed in this panel. Such activities for supervision and management of IVD devices supply include registration process and technical requirements for in vitro diagnostic devices in Iran comparing to other countries, organizing IVD Expert Committee, inquiry from IMED website, distribution and virtual warehouse portal, medical device reporting (MDR) portal, and sale services portal, etc...
