Maintenance and Continuity in Organization of Laboratory Services During Economic Crisis:
Solutions, Opportunities, and Challenges

Abstract
Medical laboratories should be familiar with principles and techniques of management besides observing the laboratory standards in order to maintain the patient's safety and to promote the quality and appropriate access of people to the laboratory services. They need to deploy the qualified staff services in various specialties and use the competent authorities approved tools and equipment. Therefore, they are always exposed to setbacks caused by social, political and economic crisis that affect one or more aspects of the aforementioned aspects. Crises are associated with irregularities, and the greater the degree and severity of irregularities, the harder the control of the conditions and management of the system will be. Crises essentially loosen the control of conditions. The prevention of crisis-induced and immediate damage, or the mitigation of their effects, requires crisis management. Crisis management can be defined as a process to face with a difficult and tough situation, which mobilizes all group planning, organization, and control of operations with interaction, and submits them to the managers for right decision-making, who should work out the problem promptly but without hurried action. Managing a crisis will be effective if responsible organizations, collaborating organizations, logistics organization, alternative organizations have efficient and ongoing inter-sector and cross-sector collaboration before, during and after the crisis.
