                                                                      In the Name of God
Today, laboratory medicine is an inseparable part of public health and patient-centered healthcare, based on numerous analytical techniques and providing timely and objective data to healthcare professionals. It plays a decisive role in guiding, preventing, diagnosing, treating, and monitoring diseases. Undoubtedly, after twenty-one sessions, the Congress on Quality Improvement in Laboratory Services has played a significant role in defining the position of laboratories in the healthcare system, marking it as one of the largest and most important scientific events in the field of medical laboratory in the country.

Recent technological advancements have transformed modern laboratory medicine, adding significant value to its role in healthcare and clinical decision-making. The 21st Congress on Quality Improvement, featuring 25 scientific sessions and over 40 workshops, aims to address crucial clinical and practical issues, including top emerging technologies in medical laboratories—such as innovations in laboratory automation, genomics, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry, microfluidics, Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), and the use of new tools like artificial intelligence and data mining to utilize large medical data obtained from these new techniques.

At the 21st congress in 1403 (according to the Iranian calendar), over 200 manufacturing and research companies, mostly knowledge-based, as well as several representing reputable global brands, will showcase the latest world technologies including MALDI-TOF MS, significantly impacting microbiology in medical laboratories.

The congress also features the largest annual exhibition of diagnostic kits and laboratory equipment. This year has seen unprecedented and widespread participation from producers and suppliers of kits and laboratory necessities. The exhibition will introduce new and advanced models of laboratory automation equipment and rapid POCT devices, which have found extensive use in medical laboratories. This year, special incentives are provided for companies at the exhibition to encourage them to offer more facilities to laboratories at more favorable prices.

Efforts are made to ensure the satisfaction of colleagues by handling registrations, card issuance, meal arrangements, and surveys electronically. My advice, as the executive secretary of the congress, is to pre-select panels and workshops due to the diverse and appealing scientific programs available, as it may not be possible to attend all. Also, familiarization with the ELABMARKET system used for notifications during the congress is recommended for easy access to information on scientific sessions, workshops, and exhibition stands.

Despite recent economic crises, sanctions, and foreign exchange restrictions impacting all players in the medical laboratory field, we have strived to meet the scientific, practical, and educational expectations of the laboratory community by leveraging previous experiences in organizing the congress. We also honor outstanding contributions in the Hakim Jorjani festival in a friendly atmosphere, remembering all colleagues and martyrs of health who have been with us over the years and are no longer present. We hope for the active participation of all laboratory community members in the congress to facilitate an even more magnificent event.
